In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Armistice Day (which has become Veterans Day) on the anniversary of the end of World War I.
The commitment to military service is one of our finest traditions. The foundation of our safety and security rests upon the lives of the millions of soldiers who have been injured or made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf.
We also salute the friends and families of all veterans whose support, hardships and sacrifice have made their service possible.
